In each episode of this dramatic series, we follow the stories of four people whose lives are changed as a result of blood donation. Episodes include shark attack, cancer, plasma transfusion and premature babies.
When faced with a serious event in their lives, like cancer, a life threatening accident or a medical condition, patients from young to old rely heavily on the blood transfusions that save their lives.
Episode 1
In this episode, we follow the story of a desperate race to save a surfer’s life following a shark attack, we look at a spur of the moment decision to give blood which leads to a life threatening diagnosis and follow the incredible process that takes donations to their recipients.
Episode 2
This episode follows a brave detective who is stabbed multiple times and loses his blood three times over during life saving surgery. We also look at the critical role blood donation has in a double lung transplant and follow two best friends who support each other through regular blood transfusions.
Episode 3
Episode three features a regular blood donor who receives back a donation during her cancer treatment, a young woman whose life is turned around with regular plasma donations and two friends who are on a mission to donate plasma all over the country.
Episode 4
In this episode, we follow the story of a mother whose pregnancy becomes life threatening and results in surgery and multiple transfusions for her and her premature baby. Also, actress, Chloe Bayliss, shares her story and we follow the volunteers who keep donors hydrated with their famous milkshakes.
Episode 5
In episode five, we see how blood products help treat a woman who is bitten four times by a venomous snake. We also see how surgery with blood products gives hope to an advanced cancer patient and how breast milk donations can help save the lives of premature babies.
Episode 6
In this episode, a new mum gets a lifesaving transfusion and we follow the stories of a lung transplant and a group of shark attack survivors who give back by donating blood.
Episode 7
This episode follows the story of a horrific car crash, we see how plasma donations help a young woman beat the odds and see how communities come together to donate blood during times of high need.
Episode 8
Episode eight features a paramedic who needs to be cut out of his mangled ambulance and given transfusions in the rescue helicopter. We also see how a blood transfusion saves the lives of twins and a cancer patient battling for his life.
